Recycled Water

by Jacob Richardson

I did this experiment because I had entered a Science fair in the Cayman Islands.

I wanted to see whether you could use recycled water instead of fresh water to help grow plants.

I had a little brain storm with my Parents about what I should do and I came up with two sets of experiments - one tray of Basil plants which I watered with fresh water and the other sets of Basil plants I watered with Recycled water. I did the exact same afterwards, but just with Cress seeds.

The results came out well and the recycled water grew stronger. What happened was that the fresh watered plants grew quicker but they died off quicker, and the recycled watered plants grew stronger and lasted longer. This whole story applies to both Cress and Basil.

It is easy to collect recycled water by using a washing-up bowl when you wash the dishes, clean fruit or save the water after having a shower.

There are many ways to collect recycled water (Grey Water) and it is very easy too.
